MobilPass monthly ticket

Cheaper with MobilPass, Köln-Pass or Bonn ID card.

MobilPass tickets are discounted tickets available to holders of a MobilPass, a Köln-Pass, or a Bonn-Ausweis. Available in the VRS network area in fare zones 1 through 3. Available as single-ride tickets and monthly passes (including a subscription option with monthly cancellation).

You can use MobilPass tickets if you receive one of the following benefits:

Citizen’s Income (until June 30, 2026) and Basic Security Income (starting July 1, 2026) pursuant to (SGB II)
Housing allowance (WoGG)
Benefits for basic income support in old age and in cases of reduced earning capacity, as well as ongoing assistance with living expenses outside of institutions (SGB XII)
Standard benefits under the Asylum Seekers Benefits Act (including for unaccompanied minor refugees)
Ongoing benefits for war victims under the Federal War Victims’ Benefits Act

You can apply for these cards at the Jobcenter or the city’s social welfare office, or at the Rhineland Regional Council.

Please note: The discounted ticket is only valid if you have your MobilPass, Köln-Pass, or Bonn-Ausweis with you, along with a valid photo ID!

As of June 1, 2026

Holders of the KölnPass or Bonn ID card receive higher discounts thanks to additional cost coverage provided by the cities of Cologne and Bonn.

The MobilPasstickets are valid only within the VRS network area, with fare class 3 applying throughout the VRS network (not throughout the entire Rhineland network!).

The MobilPass monthly pass is valid for one calendar month, 24 hours a day, in the selected cities and municipalities. On the last day of validity, you can use the pass until 3 a.m. (the following day).

A MobilPass monthly ticket subscription is valid for an indefinite period and can be canceled on a monthly basis.
The subscription will be canceled no later than the expiration date of the proof of eligibility or after twelve months, provided that no new proof of eligibility has been submitted to the contracting transit company by the 10th calendar day of the last month before the end of the term.

Childrenup to and including age 5 generally ride buses and trains for free. Children who are not yet attending school also always ride for free, even if they are already 6 years old. Children between the ages of 6 and 14, inclusive, ride using discounted single-ride tickets at the children’s fare.

With a MobilPass monthly pass, you can travel for free Monday through Friday starting at 7 p.m., as well as all day on weekends and holidays (until 3 a.m. the following day), along with

one additional person over the age of 14 (with their own MobilPass, Köln-Pass, or Bonn ID) and
up to 3 children (ages 6 to 14) with you.

You can bring your dog along for free on the Rheinlandnetz. Please make sure that a dog is always accompanied by a responsible person—and, depending on the breed, wears a muzzle. By the way, the seats are reserved for people. All animals must comply with this rule.

The MonatsTicket MobilPass is freely transferable when purchased individually or as a subscription, but only to a person who has their own MobilPass, Köln-Pass, or Bonn ID card.

MobilPass tickets can be used on the following modes of transportation within the VRS network area:

Bus routes, streetcars, city trains, and subways
S-Bahn, RegionalBahn, and RegionalExpress lines
Express bus routes
(An express bus surcharge is required to use the SB 60 express bus route!)
