The SemesterTicket gives you, as a student, unlimited access to the entire VRS network—for a flat rate of 180 euros per semester ( as of the 2026 summer semester). However, you must always carry a valid photo ID with you.

With the SemesterTicket, you can travel on the VRS network 24/7 for one semester. It is valid only in conjunction with a valid photo ID.

Childrenup to and including age 5 generally ride buses and trains for free. Children who are not yet attending school also always ride for free, even if they are already 6 years old. Children between the ages of 6 and 14, inclusive, can purchase discounted single-ride and 4-ride tickets at the children’s fare.
With a SemesterTicket, you can bring one person over the age of 14 and one bicycle for free Monday through Friday starting at 7 p.m., as well as all day on weekends and holidays (until 3 a.m. the following day).
In addition, from 3 p.m. Monday through Friday, as well as all day on weekends and holidays (until 3 a.m. the following day), you can bring up to three children (ages 6 to 14) for free.
You can bring your dog on the VRS for free. Please make sure that a dog is always accompanied by a responsible person—and, depending on the breed, wears a muzzle. By the way, the seats are reserved for people. All animals must comply with this rule.

The SemesterTicket is non-transferable. It is considered a personal ticket only when presented with a valid student ID card that includes a photo.
