Visiting our neighbours

You need a VRS-Tarif ticket for journeys from the VRS network area into the Aachener Verkehrsverbund (AVV) network or vice versa.

The NRW-Tarif is not offered for connections between the AVV and VRS networks – exceptions are the EinfachWeiterTicket and the FahrradTagesTicket NRW. The Deutsche Bahn AG BahnCard is also not recognised.

Special arrangements in border municipalities

  • Bike transportation and subscription transportation rules: Since the AVV network municipalities of Düren, Merzenich, Nörvenich, Vettweiß and Titz also belong to the VRS network, the VRS regulations on bike transportation and the subscription transportation regulations apply there according to the VRS tariff. VRS tickets in price category 5 are generally valid in the VRS network.

  • The VRS-AnschlussTicket, Formel9Ticket, PrimaTicket, FahrradTicket are also available for Düren, Merzenich, Nörvenich, Vettweiß and Titz but cannot be used for trips to other AVV network municipalities.

  • The VRS JobTicket is also valid in the AVV network municipalities of Düren, Titz, Niederzier, Merzenich, Nörvenich, Vettweiß, Kreuzau, Nideggen, Heimbach, Simmerath and Monschau. However, the regulation on free bike transportation with the VRS JobTicket only applies in the AVV network municipalities of Düren, Titz, Merzenich, Nörvenich and Vettweiß.

You can use the range of tickets in the VRS tariff between many neighbouring towns and municipalities in the Rhein-Sieg (VRS) and Rhein-Ruhr (VRR) transport networks.
