Would you like to program a digital application with public transport component(s)? For example, as a new informative internet feature, for a scientific or university project or with an innovative start-up? We would be happy to provide you with our interfaces or data sets.

Our interfaces (OpenService)

The external VRS interfaces (ASS, TRIAS or GTFS-RT) can be used to query connections via the VRS timetable information system. For example ...

  • call up bus and train connections based on the current timetable data and
  • display stop departure boards.

The VRS interfaces are well suited for dynamic applications that are intended for daily use. A defined maximum request frequency per day ensures that the systems are not overloaded.

GTFS data set (OpenData)

Accessible and machine-readable traffic data is required for more complex applications. The GTFS (General Transport Feed Specification) format developed by Google is currently the most widely used for this purpose.

VRS GmbH provides you with timetable data in this format. These can be used under the data license Deutschland Zero Version 2.0. Our GTFS datasets are updated daily between midnight and 1 a.m.

GTFS-SOLL data is suitable, for example, for displaying the general basic timetable offer. You can then combine the data with value-added services (e.g. for local searches for places of residence or doctors with bus and train connections or for tourist information).

The GTFS-SOLL data sets can be downloaded here:
